Perfect for that Starbucks lover? $450 stainless steel gift card

If you’re a gift-card giver and have a Starbucks fan on your list, here’s what might be the ultimate holiday present: Starbucks’ $450 stainless steel gift card. The card is $400 of Starbucks credit, with an additional $50 tacked on for the cost of the card itself.

The Starbucks Metal Card will be available at the shopping website Gilt.com starting at 9 a.m. Pacific time on Friday, until the supply of 5,000 cards is sold out.

Starbucks is getting all kinds of fancy, first with its $7 cup of coffee, and now with its limited edition Metal Card that includes gold level membership for the Starbucks rewards program. Rewards program gold membership means a free birthday drink and a free drink or food item after the purchase of 12 drinks.

Without a Metal Card (which is refillable), Starbucks customers have to make 30 transactions a month to achieve gold membership. A presale begins Thursday for current rewards program members.

Use the card toward a cup of the Costa Rica Finca Palmilera, which the company began selling last month -- at $7 (for a grande size), its most expensive coffee ever.
