Dennys Pacheco, 19, a Latino man, was shot multiple times at 15711 Rayen St. in North Hills and died at 2:37 p.m. Friday, May 4. Pacheco was parked on the street with a woman when a sedan with at least two suspects drove up and a black man got out. They quarreled, and the suspect shot Pacheco multiple times, then fled. Pacheco is from San Fernando, and was visiting a friend. Detectives do not believe he was gang member--just ‘a big guy,’ one said--and do not know why he might have found himself in a lethal argument. Anyone with information is asked to call LAPD Mission area police at (818) 838-9980.
Update: Mission detectives have made arrests in this case. Three black men have been charged. Detectives said Pacheco was dropping off a girlfriend at a house and saw them across the street and exchanged ‘hard stares’ with them. They followed him to Rayen Street and shot him. There may not have been any words exchanged.
