Baseball: Torrance upsets No. 1 Bishop Amat

La Puente Bishop Amat, seeded No. 1 in the Southern Section Division 4 baseball playoffs, was stunned by Torrance, 7-3, on Friday in a quarterfinal game.
In Division 2, UCLA-bound Adam Plutko threw a no-hitter to help top-seeded Glendora defeat Placentia Valencia, 2-1. Manhattan Beach Mira Costa defeated La Mirada, 9-4.
In Division V, North Hollywood Campbell Hall handed defending champion Pasadena Maranatha and standout pitcher Dylan Covey a 9-3 defeat. Logan Markley hit a three-run home run in the first inning for Campbell Hall.
Dana Point Dana Hills defeated Moorpark, 14-9, in a Division 1 quarterfinal. Dana Hills will play Placentia El Dorado in a semifinal game Tuesday at Blair Field in Long Beach. El Dorado defeated Orange Lutheran, 2-1.
Simi Valley Royal defeated San Clemente, 3-2, on consecutive RBI singles by Scott Hockenberry and Ryan Tinkham in the sixth inning.
In a night game, Lakewood and Santa Ana Mater Dei are scoreless after two innings at Mater Dei.
