2 USD Players Reach Singles Finals

SAN DIEGO — Two players from the University of San Diego advanced to today’s singles finals of the 16th San Diego Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament at USD.
Unseeded Miles Walker of Chapman defeated third-seeded Julio Noriega of San Diego State, 7-6, 4-6, 6-0, in the semifinals and will meet unseeded Kevin Gillette of Cal State Long Beach in the No. 1-2 singles final at 10:30 a.m.
USD will be represented by third-seeded Scott Patridge, who upset top-seeded Pat Crow of Cal State Long Beach, 6-2, 6-0, in the semifinals of the No. 3-4 singles bracket. Patridge will play fourth-seeded Vince Horcasitas of Cal State Long Beach in the final at 9 a.m.
Also reaching the finals for the Toreros is Dan Mattera, the No. 1 seed in the No. 5-6 bracket. Mattera defeated fourth-seeded Allen Juinio of Chapman, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the semifinals and will play unseeded Drew Denny of Cal State Long Beach at 9 a.m.
The doubles semifinals will start at 12:30 p.m.
