Two men were killed in separate traffic accidents in Lemon Grove over the weekend.
Jeremy Harris of La Mesa was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and manslaughter after a Saturday morning accident in which a passenger in his car was killed.
Harris apparently lost control of his car coming down a steep hill in the 3400 block of Washington Street about 1:50 a.m., according to sheriff’s Sgt. Don Christ. The car struck a berm and rolled three to six times, ejecting Jeff McKay, 21. The victim, of 2928 Orange Place, Lemon Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s brother, Isaac McKay, and two other unidentified male passengers were treated for minor injuries and released, Christ said. Harris was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment and later booked into county jail.
In an earlier incident, a 50-year-old Lemon Grove man was killed in a collision at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Carlos Ahumada, of 2053 Eldora St., was thrown from his car after a broadside collision with another vehicle at 2659 Buena Vista Ave. and was pronounced dead at the scene, Christ said. The other driver suffered minor injuries. No further details were available.
