Glendale OKs Pay for City Workers in Gulf
- Share via
The Glendale City Council on Tuesday voted to supplement the military pay of Glendale city employees serving as reservists in the Persian Gulf War.
The ordinance, introduced by Mayor Larry Zarian and approved unanimously by the council, will apply to three city workers already serving in the Gulf. Fifteen others who are military reservists also could be affected if they are called to the Middle East, officials said.
City employees were paid full salaries only up to 30 days after they began their military service, for which they receive military pay. Under the new ordinance, the city will pay employees the difference between their military and regular city salaries for the duration of their tours of duty.
