GETTING OUT

I moved here a month ago, leaving Florida to become a professional actor. Since my arrival, I have gotten a sense of Latino-phobia, accentuated by The Times. In many ways, your coverage of the population shift in Southern California is thinly veiled racism. It makes many an Anglo feel comfortable knowing that he/she is not alone in his/her fear and hatred of immigrants. It also fuels the fires of prejudice and discrimination toward nonwhites by giving such feelings credibility. It is a distinctly white point of view.
Whether whites are the majority or not, this is still the land of dreams for all new arrivals.
