IN CONCLUSION . . .

There has been a terrible mistake! One of your writers has prefaced his review of a new book with these heretical words: “Without giving away all of the plot . . .” He’s not one of your regular (chuckle!) reviewers, so it’s unlikely you will let this happen again.
More likely, The Times’ book and film “reviewers” will go their provincial ways, condescendingly tipping us peasants not only to the ending, but also previewing for us key scenes within the film-book. Though some of us might have liked to experience these for ourselves, we bow, perforce, to the masturbatory zeitgeist of our great, hearty Western newspaper.
