Metoyer scored a total of 40 points as the Lancers gained two victories to improve their Moore League record to 4-1. She had 24 points and 14 rebounds as the Lancers defeated Compton, 55-33, then had 16 points to lead her team in a 47-45 upset of Millikan.

Other top performers:

* Kim Mason, a basketball player for the La Serna Lancers, led her team to a couple of Whitmont League victories. Mason scored 29 points as the Lancers defeated Whittier, 55-30, and 18 points in a 51-44 win over Santa Fe.

* Michelle Esparza, El Rancho’s star basketball player, moved into ninth place among CIF Southern Section all-time scoring leaders by scoring 72 points and pushing her career total to 2,036 points. She scored 40 points in a 66-44 win over Santa Fe and 32 points in the Dons’ first league loss, 53-52, to Bell Gardens.
