San Dimas : Historical Value of Mansion

A group of architects has determined that plans to turn the San Dimas Mansion into a wedding banquet hall will affect the structure’s historical value.
Arcadia caterer Steve Worsley submitted renovation plans, which include removing interior walls, to build two large ballrooms for wedding receptions in the 104-year-old Victorian-style mansion.
But Bahr, Vermeer & Haecker, a historical architecture firm hired by the city, determined that Worsley’s proposed alterations would change the historical significance of the building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The City Council agreed Tuesday but gave Worsley the option of revising his plans or paying for an environmental impact report.
