Georgia Tech 65, Houston 60--The Yellow Jackets outscored the Cougars, 11-2, in the final four minutes.
“I’m very proud of this team,” Georgia Tech Coach Bobby Cremins said. “It never ceases to amaze me. When we were down four it could have been lights out.”
Trailing, 58-54, Georgia Tech called time out with four minutes remaining and switched to a zone defense. The defensive switch seemed to confuse Houston, which missed its next six shots.
Jon Barry led Georgia Tech (22-11) with 17 points. Sam Mack led Houston (25-6) with 18.
