The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is looking for volunteers to work at the Encinitas substation in the fraud and arson detail, as investigative assistants and as general office help, Sgt. M. R. O’Connor, citizen volunteer coordinator, said.
Volunteers would be subject to a background investigation and will be asked to pledge a minimum of four-hour shifts either one or two days each week, O’Connor said.
On-call volunteers are also needed as field kitchen help for the department’s search-and-rescue detail. Field kitchen volunteers might be needed anytime during the day or night on short notice, O’Connor said.
Those interested in volunteering should call the sheriff’s reserve office, 694-3021, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
