RACING ROUNDUP : Saint Ballado Easily Wins Arlington Classic

Saint Ballado won the $300,000 Arlington Classic for 3-year-old by 4 1/2 lengths at Arlington International Racecourse on Sunday.
Ridden by Julie Krone, Saint Ballado was timed in 1:46 4/5, three-fifths of a second shy of the track record set by Spectacular Bid under 130 pounds in the Washington Park Handicap as a 4-year-old in 1980. Saint Ballado carried 120 pounds.
Saint Ballado paid $5.20, $3.20 and $3. Desert Force returned $7.20 and $4.20. Star Recruit paid $4.40. American Chance, the 4-5 favorite ridden by Pat Day, was fourth.
Bet down to 1-20, Alydeed toyed with his seven rivals and won the $111,000 Plate Trial Stakes at Woodbine in Toronto.
Ridden by Craig Perret, the Preakness runner-up won by 8 1/2 lengths and completed the 1 1/8 miles in a stakes record 1:50.
Alydeed paid $2.10 across the board and created a minus show pool of $22,264.70.
Favored Nannerl came from off the pace under Jose Santos for a two-length victory in Belmont Park’s $85,350 Vagrancy Handicap. Carrying 116 pounds, Nannerl rallied from fifth to beat Serape, who was 6 3/4 lengths ahead of Makin Faces.
Nannerl covered seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:22 2/5 and returned $5.00, $2.80 and $2.10. Serape paid $2.60 and $2.20; Makin Faces returned $2.40.
Odds-on favorite Pip Pip and 17-1 shot First N Four went to the lead from the gate and ran the 350 yards side by side, finishing in a dead heat for the victory in the Miss Kindergarten Futurity at Los Alamitos. The 2-year-old fillies were timed in 17.66 seconds.
