WHO’S NO. 1? The Big Game is here tonight: Esperanza High, Orange County’s No. 1-ranked football team, plays host to Los Alamitos, ranked No. 2. Both are 7-0; it’s the season’s most eagerly awaited showdown. . . . Esperanza’s Travis Kirschke, a senior lineman, and Los Alamitos’ Tim Carey, a senior quarterback, are perhaps the county’s best players. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at Valencia High. The two teams split when they played each other twice last season.
