Officials Spurn Shadowy Figure

Polin Belisle of Burbank has often been accused of being the phantom of the marathon--he has been disqualified from several for not appearing on race videos--and Los Angeles Marathon officials acted as if he were invisible in Sunday’s race.

Belisle crossed the finish line under 2 hours 40 minutes, finishing 36th, but marathon officials ignored him because of his history of cheating, a marathon spokesman said. Belisle was immediately disqualified and doesn’t appear in the unofficial results.
