WESTMINSTER — A man was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run Monday night after witnesses followed him to a fast food restaurant and called police.
Howard Anthony Samuels, 37, was arrested outside of a Carl’s Jr. on Westminster Boulevard, Lt. Mike Schliskey said.
Police said Samuels was southbound on Golden West Street at 10:15 p.m. when he allegedly hit a man who was walking in a crosswalk at 21st Street.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was described as being in his late 20s. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with head and facial injuries and has not regained consciousness, Schliskey said.
Samuels “knew he hit somebody,” Schliskey said. “He drove about a quarter-mile to a fast food restaurant where he made a telephone call. Witnesses watched him until police arrived.”
Samuels is being held at County Jail.
