As the Barons’ top outside hitter, Moro receives the majority of the sets, meaning she has plenty of chances to succeed or fail. In two Sunset League matches last week, Moro was nearly perfect. She committed only four hitting errors in 105 chances in victories over Marina and then-No. 4-ranked Huntington Beach. In the four-game victory over Marina, she had 23 kills and no errors, and in the three-game sweep of Huntington Beach, she had 17 kills and four errors. “She’s just playing really well right now,” Fountain Valley Coach Mike Hinton said.

Other notables:

* Marcie Asch, Corona del Mar, won all 12 of her singles sets in tennis victories against Dana Hill, Los Alamitos, Tustin and Saddleback.

* Hilary Kyle, Laguna Beach, was named the MVP of the Santa Barbara San Marcos volleyball tournament after helping her team win the title.

* Kim Nelson, Canyon, won the Division II race at the Stanford Invitational, running three miles in 18 minutes 40 seconds.

* Kerry O’Bric, Edison, finished seventh in 19:38 and helped the Chargers to Stanford Invitational Division II team title.
