Nichols Institute, the San Juan Capistrano medical testing company, said its profit for the third quarter totaled $1.4 million, or 8 cents a share.
That was up from earnings of $440,000, or 3 cents a share, recorded for the 1992 third quarter. The company said revenue dropped 3% to $68.4 million from $70.5 million, mainly because of product price reductions.
Year-to-date profit was $5.8 million, or 33 cents a share, contrasted with a loss of $6.1 million, or 40 cents a share, for the first nine months of 1992. Nine-month revenue was down 1% to $211.3 million from $213.7 million.
