VILLA PARK : Cities to Share Cost of Repairing Taft Avenue
- Share via
Taft Avenue divides Villa Park and Orange, so the two cities are dividing the cost of repairing the avenue.
The Villa Park City Council unanimously voted last week for a joint agreement with Orange that calls for maintenance work on Taft Avenue from Sycamore Street to Loma Street. The maintenance includes street sealing and pavement rehabilitation.
Orange’s share of the work is estimated to cost $21,402, and Villa Park’s portion is estimated at $25,676. A contract will be awarded to the low bidder.
In a memo to the Villa Park council, City Engineer Jeff Thompson noted that Taft Avenue is a boundary for the two cities. “Due to the extensive work involved for the rehabilitation of Taft Avenue, the cities have mutually agreed to financially participate in this common project,” Thompson said.
The joint agreement between the cities calls for the construction contract to be awarded by next February.
