Plea Entered in Child-Support Case

A man accused of being delinquent with more than $200,000 in support payments pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Superior Court to one felony charge of continuing to miss child-support payments.
Prosecutors say Larry Lee Roberts, 47, owes more than $260,000 in child-support payments and interest to his three teenage children and their mother in Newbury Park. A judge sentenced Roberts to one year in jail last year after he was convicted of a misdemeanor charge of failing to pay support.
Prosecutors contend that after his release, Roberts fled the state and again shirked his responsibilities. If convicted, Roberts could be sent to state prison for a year, prosecutors said. His trial is scheduled for May.
