Mobile-Home Maker Opens at New Plant in Lancaster

Rexhall Industries Inc., a maker of mobile homes, has completed its move from Saugus to Lancaster.
The company had originally planned to move to Nevada or Arizona in search of lower workers’ compensation premiums, but then was courted by Lancaster, which offered the firm 10 acres of land for a dollar, said Bernie Alivio, director of investment relations.
Rexhall has completed an 87,000-square-foot plant on the site and began operation in January, he said.
About 180 of Rexhall’s 260 workers moved with the company. The rest will be hired from the Lancaster area, according to an agreement the company signed in exchange for the land.
