El Modena 26, Orange 29--El Modena ended the Panthers’ string of 17 consecutive victories in league meets. Nick Russell finished first for Orange in 15:56 on the three-mile Eisenhower Park course.
In the Sunset League:
Huntington Beach 22, Edison 33--Dan Gaston ran a time of 15:29 over three miles at Central Park for Huntington Beach (1-0).
In Sea View League girls’ cross-country:
Woodbridge 23, Newport Harbor 34--Freshmen Ellie Stephens and Nicole Scott finished third and fourth to help the Warriors (1-0 in league) upset the Sailors, ranked 10th in the county.
