Spotlight: Rockwell to Buy Cirrus’ Chip Products Unit

Rockwell International Corp. has agreed to buy the wireless semiconductor products unit of Cirrus Logic Inc. for $18.1 million. Seal Beach-based Rockwell said the PCSI Wireless Semiconductor Products group is the leading chip supplier for Japan’s advanced digital phone system. The unit, which employs about 125 in San Diego, will become part of Rockwell’s Semiconductor Systems unit. Rockwell recently sold off its defense and aerospace businesses to focus on commercial electronics and auto parts.
