2 Presenters Set Programs for Concert Season

Two Orange County music presenters have announced concerts for their 1998-99 seasons.
The Philharmonic Society of Orange County has added four concerts to complete its 1998-99 World Stages Series at the Irvine Barclay Theatre.
Indian sitarist Nishat Khan and four vocalists singing Gregorian chant will collaborate Oct. 30 in a program titled “Meeting of Angels.”
The series continues Jan. 15 with “Mystical Arts of Tibet” (sacred music and dance from Tibet); March 15 with Gypsy Caravan, 30 musicians and dancers performing Gypsy music from four countries; and March 28 with “Cubanismo!” a 17-member Cuban ensemble that plays Latin dances. “Cubanismo!” will be at 4 p.m. The other programs will be at 8 p.m.
As previously announced, the series will open Sept. 24-27 with five performances of Le Ballet National du Senegal in “Pangols, the spirit of West Africa in music, dance and song.” Programs Sept. 24-26 will be at 8 p.m. Performances Sept. 27 will be at 2 and 7 p.m.
Series tickets: $115 and $130. Single ticket prices will be announced.
The society and the theater also will present the five-member Irish American ensemble Solas at 8 p.m. March 17. This concert is not part of the World Stages Series. Tickets will go on sale in late July. Prices will be announced.

* Oct. 25: Jerusalem Piano Trio: Beethoven’s Piano Trio in C minor, Opus 1, No. 3; Brahms’ Piano Trio in C, Opus 87; Shostakovich’s Piano Trio in E minor, Opus 67.
* Dec. 6: Dunsmiur Piano Quartet: Schubert’s Adagio and Rondo Concertante for Piano Quartet, D. 487; Copland’s Piano Quartet; Dvorak’s Piano Quartet in E-flat, Opus 87.
* Jan. 10: Musica Pacifica: “Viva Venezia”: 17th and 18th century Venetian music.
* Feb. 14: Jacques Thibaud String Trio: Schubert’s Trio in B-flat, D. 587; Penderecki’s Trio; Mozart’s Divertimento in E-flat, K. 563.
* April 18: Alexander String Quartet: Haydn’s Quartet in G, Opus 76, No. 1; Barber’s Quartet, Opus 11; Beethoven’s Quartet No. 9, Opus 59, No. 3.
