Junior Golfers Finish Third

Ronald Won of Irvine and Candie Kung of Fountain Valley finished third in their divisions Monday at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Junior Classic in Mobile, Ala.
In the boys’ division, Won shot a 68 at the par-72 Magnolia Grove Golf Course.
He finished with a three-day total of 215. J.C. DeLeon of Tulsa won with a 212. James Vargas of Miami was second with 214.
Kung shot a 73 for a total of 225 in the girls’ division. Thailand’s Virada Nirapathpongporn won with 215.

Andrea Sanders and Ashley Backus from University of San Diego High defeated Woodbridge’s Danielle Hustedt and Adrianne Hockicko, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4, Monday in the girls’ doubles title match at the Quicksilver Main Event High School Tennis Championships at Balboa Bay Racquet Club.

Pat Manning of Mater Dei is one of 18 players selected for the USA Baseball Junior National Team, which play in the Pan American tournament from Sept. 25-Oct. 5 in Cartagena, Colombia.
