Dozens Die in Mexico Truck Crash

MEXICO CITY — A flatbed truck carrying more than 50 people plunged into a ravine Friday in southernmost Mexico, killing at least 46 people, the Chiapas state governor said.
Details remained unclear, but independent TV Azteca said about 25 of the dead were children.
In an interview with the network, Gov. Roberto Albores Guillen said the accident occurred near Amatenango, close to the Guatemalan border northeast of Tapachula.
The government’s Notimex news agency said police blamed the crash on a mechanical problem.
