Jesse Ventura

* Will wonders never cease! At last a politician who’s not afraid to speak his mind no matter what uproar he might cause. I’m talking about Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura and his comments about organized religion in a recent Playboy magazine interview (Oct. 2). “Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers. It tells people to go out and stick their noses in other people’s business.”
Right on! Can you imagine George Bush or Al Gore saying such a thing, rather than kissing up to the Bible-bangers, as they’ve been doing in hopes of garnering a few votes? Organized religion of all “faiths” has been the predominant cause of the world’s miseries down through history; from belittling women, enslaving thousands, retarding scientific thinking, divisiveness, exclusion, bad-mouthing everyone from gays to those of other beliefs--or no beliefs--to wars and outright murder of whole civilizations. All in the name of God and to keep bringing in lots of money from their suckers.
Good going, Jesse. Keep telling it like it is!

Ventura has the guts to say what independent-thinking people know. Religion is for losers. Right on, my man.
