Yankee utility player Luis Sojo said he’d begged Manager Joe Torre to put him on the World Series roster, even though Sojo missed the first two games to arrange his father’s funeral in Venezuela. After joining the Yankees in New York, Sojo is glad he made his impassioned plea.
“That’s what my dad wanted,” Sojo said of his father, Ambrosio, a New Jersey taxi driver who died of a heart ailment Thursday. “He wanted me to play, to make him proud.”
