Residents applauded Tuesday night when the City Council unanimously agreed on a second revision to Fairview Park’s trails system.
The city plans to turn the park--now a grassy field with dirt trails--into a nature preserve. It had proposed replacing exotic plants with native species, adding parking spaces and paving some of the trails.
The newest plan limits the number of paved trails to one on the west side and no more than two on the east; adds a cross-country trail and one or two hillside hiking trails; and changes the equestrian entrance to Canyon Drive.
A synopsis and map illustrating the changes will be available to the public at City Hall, 77 Fair Drive.
