* Politicians are a continuous source of wonder, amazement, incredulity and shortsightedness (“Famed Washington Portrait for Sale; L.A. Buyer Sought,” March 7).
The nation’s Capitol is awash in money from excess taxation of citizens. Our national, not to mention local, politicians can find billions of dollars for pet pork, but they cannot find a few million to purchase a historic painting of George Washington. Where are their priorities?
