Plan Would Introduce Lodging at Presidio
Officials are discussing a plan to build lodging at the jewel of the Presidio: Crissy Field.
The Presidio Trust oversees most of the nearly 1,500-acre park. It proposed 115 rooms of “new construction” for overnight visitors at Crissy Field. It also plans 66 rooms of lodging in existing buildings at the Ft. Scott and Main Post areas.
It’s not unusual for a national park to offer tourist accommodations, but the trust’s idea has raised concerns because its draft plan is vague. The former Army base, now a haven for joggers and bicyclists, has no tourist lodgings.
