Gang Member Awaits Sentencing for Murder

A Salvadoran gang member will be sentenced May 1 after being found guilty of second-degree murder in an April 2000 shooting in Newbury Park.
Jesus Miranda, 23, a Van Nuys resident, had been charged with murder, attempted murder and related charges in the shooting of two men at the 540-unit Conejo Creek condominium complex.
Edgar Cruz, 19, died after being shot twice in the abdomen. His friend Andres Morales, then 18, was seriously wounded.
