One man died and another was seriously injured when a sport utility vehicle they were riding in crashed into several utility poles and a brick wall early Sunday, police said.
The passenger, Anthony Holguin, 27, of Orange, was dead at the scene, police said. David Robert Gilbert, 27, of Anaheim remains in critical condition at a local hospital, said Police Lt. R.K. Miller.
Gilbert was driving at 90 to 100 mph on Newland Street south of Warner Avenue when he lost control of his SUV about 2:15 a.m., Miller said. Gilbert was ejected from the vehicle, he said.
The accident is still being investigated, Miller said.
