Federal Agents Accused of Aiding Escape

Six Mexican federal agents have been held for trial in the border state of Baja California on charges that they allowed the escape of two other officers detained on extortion charges.
The six officials of the Federal Agency of Investigation were guarding two colleagues at a hotel in Mexicali, on the California border, the federal attorney general’s office said in a news release. The agents under guard had worked in the neighboring state of Sonora. They are still at large.
