XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. said it would add a 24-hour Spanish-language sports station as part of an agreement with Futbol de Primera’s Andres Cantor, known for his play-by-play soccer commentary and call of “Go-o-o-al.”
The station will be sponsored by General Motors Corp. and will go on the air in July. It will broadcast the FIFA World Cup soccer championship next year and include coverage of baseball, boxing and other sports from Mexico and Latin America, Washington-based XM Satellite said.
It will be XM Satellite’s seventh Spanish-language station as the No. 1 U.S. pay-radio service adds programming to cater to an increasing Latino population.
