Barnes move appeal dismissed

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed an appeal of a lower court’s approval of the Barnes Foundation’s request to move its art collection from suburban Philadelphia to the center of the city.
Jay Raymond, a Barnes student, filed an appeal in January, arguing that he and other students were unfairly deprived of an opportunity to state their objections to the proposed relocation. The state’s Supreme Court ruled that the appeal was filed too late to be considered.
Barnes trustees want to move the collection of Renoirs, Matisses and Picassos to Philadelphia’s museum district, where they say attendance and revenue would climb significantly.
