After the march

A year ago, I enjoyed your front-page pictures of 1 million marchers insisting that America open its doors and honor the rights of any and all immigrants. On Monday morning’s front page, you describe “The Southland’s Third World slums” (March 26) where “half-naked children toddle barefoot through mud and filth while packs of feral dogs prowl piles of garbage nearby.”
Rights aren’t the issue anymore, as those million marchers now need a place to take a hot bath.
If an economic system is overloaded with cheap labor, the result will be lots of poor people living in despicable and inhumane conditions.
Can there be a more elegant argument as to why our immigration laws need to be enforced?
