Online brokerage TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. said a database was hacked and contact information for its more than 6.3 million investors was stolen.
A spokeswoman for the Omaha-based company said more-sensitive information in the database, including Social Security numbers and account numbers, does not appear to have been accessed.
Ameritrade declined to discuss its investigation of the break-in, including when it occurred. The FBI and the Securities and Exchange Commission are involved in the probe.
