Blackhawks beat Canucks to even series

Kris Versteeg scored the go-ahead goal from the left circle with 1 minute 30 seconds left and the Chicago Blackhawks rallied to beat the Vancouver Canucks, 4-2, on Monday night to even the Western Conference semifinals at 1-1.

Game 3 will be played Wednesday night in Vancouver.

In a furious final rush, Versteeg lost the puck near the goal. It went out to Duncan Keith, who slid the pass to Versteeg for a shot that beat goalie Roberto Luongo to send the crowd at the United Center into a frenzy.

Patrick Kane added an empty-net goal with 47.7 seconds left.

The Blackhawks’ Patrick Sharp tied the score earlier in the third with a short-handed goal.

Vancouver scored twice in the first 5:02 of the game. Mason Raymond had a goal, and Mikael Samulesson added a power-play tally. Brent Seabrook brought the Blackhawks within a goal in the first.

Chicago’s Antti Niemi finished with 24 saves. Luongo stopped 29 shots.

Boston 3, Philadelphia 2: Milan Lucic scored to break a third-period tie with 2:57 left and the host Bruins beat the Flyers to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Tuukka Rask made 24 saves for Boston. Brian Boucher stopped 24 shots for Philadelphia.

Miroslav Satan had a goal and two assists for Boston, and Johnny Boychuk also scored for the Bruins, the sixth-seeded team in the East that inherited home-ice advantage for the second round when the conference’s top three teams were eliminated in the opening round.

Danny Briere scored for the Flyers, and assisted on Mike Richards’ goal for his fourth straight multiple-point game of the playoffs.

It was 1-1 after one period and 2-2 after two. It stayed that way until Lucic got the puck between the circles, turned around and slapped a shot past Boucher. It was Lucic’s first goal of the playoffs, his first in nine games and just his second in 18 games, dating to March 25.

The Flyers pulled Boucher in the final minutes for an extra skater, but the best scoring chance was a shot by Boston that was picked off the post by Philadelphia defenseman Chris Pronger to keep it a one-goal game.

Boston has won seven in a row at home after winning just three of their last 17 in the regular season after the New Year’s Day Winter Classic against the Flyers at Fenway Park.
