
With all of the remaining ballots counted, Charlie Rangel’s 990-vote lead is enough to convince his Democratic primary opponent Adriano Espaillat that this dragged-out race is over. Espaillat will concede this afternoon, Capital New York reports, although he’s not taking back claims that voter suppression accounted for his narrow loss to the 21-term congressman, who for the first time did not carry a majority in the redrawn district. As a consolation prize, Espaillat will now get to defend his State Senate seat from two potential challengers.
