Representative Charlie Rangel has been shunned by prominent Democrats (specifically, Mayor de Blasio and President Obama) in his bid to win a 23rd term in office, but with just two days to go until the primary, Governor Andrew Cuomo threw his support behind the 84-year-old congressman. “His experience, seniority, and steadfast commitment to improving the lives of New Yorkers continue to make him a critical voice in standing up to the Tea Party extremism that is threatening to take over Washington,” Cuomo said in a statement. Coincidentally, a new Siena College poll shows Rangel beating State Senator Adriano Espaillat by 13 points.
