ABC’s telecast of the American Music Awards averaged 11 million viewers on Sunday, slightly off from last year.
Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the program was second among the broadcast networks on the night, finishing behind NBC’s “NFL Sunday Night Football.” Based on the overnight metered market numbers -- which put the NBC audience at 16.7 million -- the football game will finish substantially higher than the AMAs.
Among viewers in the 18-to-49 age group that is most desired by advertisers, the AMAs averaged a 3.5 rating, down 8% from last year’s telecast.
