The clothes at this Scandinavian designer’s boutique tend toward bold patterns, bright colors interspersed with the obligatory blacks and grays, and draped, Über-hip shapes. They blend seamlessly into the interior of the brand’s first outpost in New York, which makes sense, seeing as Vibskov designed the space as well. The room is long and narrow but pleasantly bright, with high ceilings and racks constructed from pale wood with red and white accents. Shelves jutting from white walls hold bags, hats, and statement socks, while a red case in the store’s center displays bracelets and other jewelry. Most of the items, which range from swimsuits to jackets, are Vibskov’s, but some other designers, like Comme Des Garçons and Wackerhaus, are represented as well. While the clothes are certainly wearable, they do have some unusual touches. Many of the pants, for example, have extremely low crotches, and several of the shirts have unusual silhouettes like an oxford/polo hybrid with buttons that extend halfway down the shirt. The accessories tend to have a more traditional bent�think straightforward leather wallets and standard wool hats and scarves�but their quiet, whimsical touches make them blend well with the rest of the wares. — Taylor Berman
