Fontana man arrested, accused of shooting at people outside a Popeyes

A Fontana man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over the weekend after, police said, he shot at two people during an argument in a Popeyes chicken restaurant parking lot.

Quentin Lavette Ford, 43, was arrested Sunday. Police said he opened fire about 7 p.m. in a Popeyes parking lot in the 16000 block of Valley Boulevard.

Police said Ford got into an altercation with a 38-year-old man. The man then drove off with a woman in the passenger seat, and, authorities said, Ford pulled out a 9-millimeter handgun and fired six shots toward the car.

Ford was arrested later at his home, where a gun and ammunition were found, Fontana police said in a statement.

Ford was being held in lieu of $1 million bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in a San Bernardino County courtroom.
