b michael originally burst onto the fashion scene with
a series of fabulous hat designs. Now, his full-fledged line
of clothes, hats, and handbags has gotten the attention of young
New York socialites, and such A-list celebrities as Venus and
Serena Williams have been spotted sitting center-row at his
runway shows. In 1998, b michael became a member of the Council
of Fashion Designers of America, and he maintains a socially
conscious schedule, acting as an advisory board member for the
Fashion Target Breast Cancer campaign (a partnership between
the CFDA and Saks Fifth Avenue), New Yorkers for Children (NYFC),
and Styleworks. He was the fashion partner for Jazz at Lincoln
Center's inaugural spring gala, Comin' Home to Harlem, and in
addition to serving as a design critic at the Fashion Institute
of Technology, b michael is a regular guest lecturer there.
