Downtown legend Patricia Field opened her first
boutique in 1966. Since then, her signature style -- edgy, eclectic,
and urban to the extreme -- has grown into an empire. The club
crowd goes wild for her outr� designs like bottom-bearing trousers,
leopard-print dresses and fuchsia ruffled panties; celebrities
look to her for inspiration on sprucing up too-conservative
wardrobes. Field became a household name after landing her high-profile
current job as costume designer for Sex and the City, dressing
Sarah Jessica Parker and her cohorts in an outrageous, much-popularized
mix of high and low fashion. The House of Field line is designed
by Field's longtime partner, David Dalrymple, who has worked
with her since the mid-1990s.
