Former editrix Luella Bartley made the career shift from fashion journalist to
fashion designer on a dare and promptly won the 2000 Elle Magazine
Young Designer Award. She was educated at the St. Martin's School
of Art in London, where she received a fashion communications
and promotion degree, and after four years of stints at The
Evening Standard and British Vogue, she decided to become a
designer. Bartley is considered one of the hottest young fashion
figures in London, thanks to clothes routinely described as
having a fresh teenage style.
