A vintage fair which includes a carousel featured in the 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will be part of the family entertainment for Guernsey's 80th Liberation Day on 9 May.

The carousel called Pride of the South, which dates back to 1893, also appeared in the movies Half a Sixpence and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Downs' Steam Fair said its rides also included a "chair-o-plane, helter skelter and 10 1950s Austin J40 pedal cars".

Deputy Sue Aldwell, from Education, Sport and Culture, said: "The Children's Zone will be a fantastic space for families to come together and enjoy a day filled with laughter, creativity and classic fairground fun."

She added: "We can't wait to see the pier buzzing with families as we come together to celebrate this important milestone in Guernsey's history."
