The Duke of Richmond Hotel in St Peter Port has been sold to Guernsey company The Little Big Hotel Group.

The four star hotel was previously owned by Red Carnation Hotels, which purchased it in 2011.

It adds another business to the portfolio of The Little Big group which already includes The Peninsular, The Fleur du Jardin and Les Douvres.

The sale was finalised on Tuesday.

Charlie Walker, managing director at The Little Big Hotel Group said the Duke of Richmond had "fantastic scope for development in the future".

"We're all about making places feel vibrant, welcoming, and most importantly memorable," she said.

The Red Carnation Group said it had no plans to sell its other hotel, The Old Government House, and was intending to invest in the property.

Jonathan Raggett, chief executive officer, said a "significant renovation" was planned, which he hoped would set "a new standard for luxury on the island".
