‘Sex and Education’ comes to Laguna Playhouse
The fifth show in the Laguna Playhouse’s 2015-2016 season is “Sex and Education,” written by Lissa Levin, directed by Andrew Barnicle and starring Julia Duffy of TV’s “Designing Women” and “Newhart.”
Beware the mature dialogue.
It will open Saturday and run through May 22 at the playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach. Tickets range from $48 to $61 and can be purchased at lagunaplayhouse.com or by calling (949) 497-ARTS (2787). Group discounts are available by calling (949) 497-2787, ext. 229.
Plein Air workshop is open to all
LOCA (Laguna Outreach for Community Arts) Arts Education and the Laguna Plein Air Painters Assn. are collaborating on a workshop titled Watercolors by the Beach, which starts at 10 a.m. Sunday. Adults, families and beginners are invited.
Participants will observe plein air artists painting the scenic shoreline of Treasure Island Park and then enjoy a guided tour of the tidepools at low tide. Following that, a LOCA instructor will teach easy steps in painting watercolor renderings of starfish and ocean life. Everyone will take home a reusable canvas tote, watercolor kit, journal, pencil and more.

LCAD will hold a student art sale
The Laguna College of Art + Design is holding its first Spring Student Art Sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The public is invited to buy or trade art, paintings, prints, zines, stickers, comics, jewelry, crafts and more made by LCAD students. The college is at 2222 Laguna Canyon Road.
